Bräknesbacken wind power project receives environmental permit

The County Administrative Board in Halland has on 2 December 2024 awarded an environmental permit for Vasa Vind’s wind power project Bräknesbacken in Halmstad municipality.

The decision grants permission for the construction of 10 wind turbines with a total height of 250 meters, corresponding to an output of about 70 MW and an energy production of approx. 250 GWh/year. This corresponds to a doubling of the current electricity production in Halmstad municipality.

Work to further develop the project for construction is now being intensified and will focus, among other things, on the connection to the regional electricity grid.

– We are very pleased that through the Bräknesbacken wind power project we can contribute with large-scale electricity production in the region of Sweden that has the greatest need and the greatest power deficit, says Mattias Sjöberg, CEO of Vasa Vind.

Vasa Vind’s strategy is to develop and invest in new wind farms, solar PV facilities and battery storage.
