Hällberget

The Hällberget wind power project is located approximately 30 kilometers west of the town of Överkalix in Norrbotten County. A permit was granted in 2022 for 57 wind turbines with a total height of 200 meters.

An application for a permit amendment for taller wind turbines and adjustment of turbine sites has been submitted for the wind farm. The amendment concerns an increase in the total height of the wind turbines by fifty meters, from 200 meters to a maximum of 250 meters, but not exceeding 530 meters above sea level unless approved by the Swedish Armed Forces. It also includes an adjustment of seven turbine sites and the addition of one new turbine site. The amendment also entails a reduction in the number of wind turbines from 57 to 46, an adjustment of the application area, and a new road crossing.

The purpose of the amendment is to optimize the utilization of the wind resource in the wind farm by using larger wind turbines, thereby enabling an increase in electricity production of up to approximately 250 GWh per year, corresponding to about 32% compared to the current permit.
