Vasa Vind initiates construction of Fröskog wind farm

Vasa Vind has made the investment decision for the establishment of Fröskog wind farm and construction will start in the second quarter of 2024. The wind farm is located in the municipality of Åmål and will have a total installed capacity of 36 MW.

The wind farm will consist of six wind turbines from Vestas of the model V162-6.0/6.2 and the expected annual production amounts to approximately 100,000 MWh, corresponding to the domestic electricity need of approximately 20,000 households. Civil and electrical works will be carried out by Stenger & Ibsen Construction and Vattenfall Eldistribution is responsible for the grid connection.

– We are very proud to now contribute with new electricity production also in southern Sweden and are very much looking forward to establishing the Fröskog wind farm together with our suppliers. As long-term owner we also put a lot of emphasis on creating value for the local community, says Mattias Sjöberg, CEO at Vasa Vind.

Construction of roads and foundations will commence in May 2024 with delivery and installation of the wind turbines during the second half of 2025.

Vasa Vind’s strategy is to develop and operate wind farm projects, but in addition also solar PV and battery storage. Vasa Vind is therefore investigating the possibility to also install solar panels in the Fröskog project to further increase the output of renewable electricity.

The investment decision is Vasa Vind’s second in a short time, where the previously communicated 20 MW battery storage in Strömsund municipality is currently under construction.
