About the wind farm

The Munkflohögen wind farm is located on a hill with good wind resources south of the village of Munkflohögen, directly west of Åskälen wind farm. Vasa Vind has participated in the development, engineering and construction of the wind farm. Construction was completed in early 2019.

The wind farm consists of 23 Vestas turbines with 180m tip height totalling 49 MW installed capacity. A new 33 / 130 kV transformer station has been built in the east part of the site for connection to the local utility Jämtkraft's 130 kV overhead power line between Ollebacken and Kattstrupeforsen.

During 2020, construction of the nearby Åskälen wind farm was completed. The two projects have been built by the same organization and same main contractors and will be operated and maintained in common. The wind farms are connected via a new road that facilitates and shortens transports within the wind farms. A common site office, that is shared with Vestas, is centrally placved within Åskälen wind farm. The site office was built by a local company using wood from the wind farm areas. The office enables a very good working environment for the site managers and wind farm technicians.

Visiting the wind farm

Within the wind farm area, you are allowed to walk, go skiing, go snowmobiling pick berries and mushrooms, etc. During certain weather conditions you need to be careful and observe the warning signs particularly. When the temperature is near or below zero there is risk for falling snow and ice from wind turbines and met masts. For your safety, keep a distance to wind turbines and met masts to avoid the risk for falling ice and snow.

Within the wind farm, there are buried cables and pipes. If you (as a land owner or contractor) shall dig or perform work using machinery within the wind farm area it is important that you contact our site manager well in advance to ensure safety for you and the facility.

If you encounter strange sounds from a turbine or something else that not appears to be normal we ask you to contact us directly. If you have questions or want to know more about the wind farm, please contact us in Vasa Vind at:
