About the wind farm
Åskälen wind farm consists of 80 turbines and is located on a couple of vast forested hills south west of Hammerdal. Vasa Vind acquired the permitted wind farm in 2014 and have since been responsible for optimisation, engineering, financing and construction of the wind farm. Construction was completed in the spring of 2020. The wind farm connects to the main grid through a centrally located transformer station via Jämtkraft's 220 kV overhead power line to Svenska Kraftnäts' main grid station in Midskog.
The Munkflohögen wind farm, which is situated immediately west of Åskälen, shares the same site office centrally placed within Åskälen wind farm. The site office was built by a local company using wood from the wind farm areas. The office enables a very good working environment for the site managers and Vestas wind farm technicians.
The two projects have been built by the same organization and same main contractors and are now operated and maintained in common. The wind farms are connected via a new road that facilitates and shortens transports within the wind farms.
